When creating online forms, sometimes you might need to allow people filling out the form to add multiple instances of an answer, especially when a question involves repeated information (for example: multiple phone numbers, all previous addresses, or a series of questions that repeat for each dependent).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In GC Forms, repeating sets can group multiple form elements together into a set that is repeated as many times as needed by the user. This provides a place to enter different answers for multiple instances of the same questions, offering flexibility when filling out the form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to add and configure a repeating set<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you determine that a question requires people filling out the form to provide multiple answers, or if a group of questions needs to be repeated, use a repeating set to collect this information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add a repeating set to a form<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  1. Create a form in GC Forms<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. In “Edit”, select “Add form element”.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Select “Repeating set” from the “Other” section and “Add repeating set”.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Name your set. This can be the category of things you’ll be asking (for example: “Addresses” or “Profiles”.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Select “Add form element to set” and select what type of question to add. You can add multiple questions that will repeat together.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Enter the question content.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Customize the repeating set buttons<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    1. Select “Customize repeating set”.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Give a name to the entry, describing what is being asked multiple times. This will be used to number each instance or entry added when filling out the form (for example, “Address -1, Address – 2, Address – 3”).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Configure the button text that people will see to “Add another ____” to their form answers (for example: “Add another address”).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Configure the button text to “Remove ____” (for example: “Remove address”).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Make sure to update English and French content accordingly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    6. Test your form to make sure it works as intended.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Specify a maximum number of answers<\/strong> that can be added<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      1. Click on the “Set name” to focus on the entire repeating set.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. In the menu, select “More”.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. In the “More options” modal, add a maximum number of answers that users can provide for this question or set.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Note: <\/strong>The maximum number of entries or instances that can be added by users in one repeating set is 50.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
