As summer unfolds, we hope you find time to recharge and enjoy the beautiful weather. We understand your role can be demanding, and it’s essential to take a step back to refresh your mind and body. Think about what you have accomplished, rearrange your goals, and maybe focus on personal learning. Remember, a well-rested leader inspires and drives a motivated team. Building Digital Competencies Now and for the Future (Rebroadcast)

Did you miss the launch of the Digital Competencies for All Public Servants? We are excited to announce the rebroadcast of the highly successful webcast that drew thousands of public servants in April.

Cohosted by TBS and CSPS, the event delved into essential digital competencies, including Continuous Improvement, Digital Literacy, Information and Data Stewardship, Cyber Security Vigilance, Digital Responsibility, and Inclusive Interactions.

The rebroadcast of this event offers a unique opportunity to access insightful information for all levels of public service. Understand the new competencies, and learn how you can apply them in your role.

From June to September, celebrate Pride Season with a wide range of activities taking place as 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and allies join together to highlight the resilience, celebrate the talent, and recognize the contributions of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities in all aspects of Canadian society.

Launch of the GC Managers Hub: PSC’s One-Stop Resource for Recruitment

We’re pleased to share with you a new resource designed to facilitate your role as a hiring manager. The National Recruitment Directorate (NRD) at the Public Service Commission is excited to launch the GC Managers Hub – a intranet page designed to streamline and consolidate all their recruitment products, tools, and services (link available only on the Government of Canada network).

What’s New: An intuitive layout for seamless navigation and a unified repository for managers’ resources.

Briefing with Purpose: Understand, Translate, and Convince

The ability to communicate meaning, purpose, guidance and direction effectively is a highly valued skill in both the private and public sectors. This online self-paced course explores how the U-T-C Trinity of Briefing (understand, translate, convince) can serve as a framework for enhancing and deepening briefing skills. Participants will reflect on their own experiences and discover best practices that they can apply to their daily work when briefing decision-makers.

Speaking Truth to Power Through Facts, Context and Perspectives

“Speaking Truth to Power” is a favoured expression in the workplace, often used to guide the manner in which advice is given. This online self-paced course explores the meaning and misconceptions behind the notion of speaking truth to power, and the resulting dynamic between advisors (public servants) and decision-makers (elected officials). Participants will be given opportunities to reflect on the necessary facts, context, perspectives and nuances needed to influence the decision-making process within and external to their organization.

Call out : Upcoming KAIROS instructors accreditation! 

KAIROS Canada instructors will offer official KAIROS certification to 20 public servants on September 10 and 11, 2024 at a Canada School of Public Service location in Ottawa.

This training is intended exclusively for regional public servants who would like to become facilitators for the KAIROS Blanket Exercise with the Canada School of Public Service in the regions, outside of the National Capital Region.

This 2-day, in-person training will be delivered in English on September 10 and 11, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 111 Sussex Drive in Ottawa. Attendance is mandatory for both full days. Virtual attendance is not possible.

**Travel expenses to Ottawa are at the charge of each participant’ organization: no travel expenses will be reimbursed by the Canada School of Public Service and you must have confirmation that your home department will cover your travel expenses before filling out the online form.**

Mammoth II: Is it possible to generate your own stress?

Did you miss the conference “Mammoth II: Is it possible to generate your own stress?” led by Dr. Raymond, from the team headed by Dr. Sonia Lupien? Explore how our thought patterns can intensify our stress. Dr. Raymond highlights the negative effects of rumination on past events and anxiety linked to the anticipation of future situations. The conference proposes concrete methods for managing these internal sources of stress and improving the management of unpleasant emotions on a daily basis.

Are you looking for a practice-based development activity? Our Co-Development Group offers an opportunity for you to connect with your peers, break isolation, and develop your leadership skills.

A Co-Development Group is a unique training approach where members help each other grow by sharing real-life situations. Participants take turns acting as clients, presenting their challenges, and as consultants, offering insights and asking probing questions to deepen understanding and enhance capacity for action. This method fosters a collaborative learning environment where everyone benefits.

We’re delighted to announce the newest addition to our NMC Secretariat team – Susan Badame! As our community continues to thrive, Susan will bring a wealth of experience to lead NMC initiatives in the Ontario Region.

Susan joins us from the Justice Canada where she held the position of Senior Learning Advisor responsible for executive leadership. Beyond her professional achievements, Susan enjoys spending time at the park with her dog and refurbishing furniture pieces.
