NMC Managers Connect 2024 – Sudbury

The Ontario Region National Managers’ Community (NMC) is pleased to provide managers and team leads with an in-person opportunity to expand their managers toolkit. 

Join us for a day of networking with managers from across federal government departments and agencies in Northern Ontario. Enjoy the opportunity to hear our keynote speaker, Dr. Katy Kamkar, PhD, CPsych, Associate Ombud, Mental Health, Clinical Psychologist, Public Services and Procurement Canada / Government of Canada discuss Mental Health Disability Management and gain a better understanding about mental health and how to provide support to employees facing challenges.

Listen to an executive panel discussion on the topic of having difficult conversations and engage in speed mentoring.

This event will provide you with the opportunity to build on your leadership competencies and enhance your skills. Become a modern leader equipped to advance the Government of Canada.

Language

This event will be English. Please note that the event will not include simultaneous translation services. Participants will be able to submit their questions in the language of their choice and a moderator will help with translation.


Facilitators and Guests

Camille Beausoleil, Executive Director, National Managers’ Community (NMC)

In May 2023, Camille was appointed as Executive Director, National Managers Community (NMC), where she has been working to promote the needs and interests of federal managers to public service decision-makers. Prior to this, Camille was Assistant Director, Learning and Product Development Team within the Respectful and Inclusive Workplaces Directorate at the Canada School of Public Service. She has been with the School since 2018, having worked in various positions both operational, in Curriculum Management as part of the Registrar’s Office, and more strategic, as Chief of Staff to the Vice-president of the Public Sector Operations and Inclusion Branch.

Camille joined the federal public service in 2008, having previously worked at the Department of Canadian Heritage and the National Capital Commission, in a number of management and project management roles. Camille holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, as well as professional certification in HR Management and lives in the National Capital Region.

Susan Badame, NMC Regional Lead for the Ontario Region and<br>Coaching workshop trainer

Susan was previously Senior Learning Advisor with Justice Canada where she was responsible for executive leadership.  Susan was formerly the Ontario NMC Steering Committee and Co-Chair for the Ontario Learning Network.  She is a certified EQi-2.0 coach and is in the process of obtaining her International Coaching Federation certification through Adler Graduate Professional School.  Susan has dedicated her career to providing professional development advice and guidance.  She views herself as a conduit to others, a channel to help her clients achieve their professional goals.

  • Link to a variety of free and inexpensive training courses designed for the federal jurisdiction.  They are bilingual.  
  • Note that the purpose of the Canada Labour Code, Part II, was updated to explicitly include work-related psychological injuries and illnesses – knowledge of the Code and other regulations is important for managers to know.  CCOHS also offers courses on key OHS elements for organizations under Canadian federal jurisdiction.
