2022 NMC Learning Day in Burnaby

Due to space limitations and the pilot nature of the sessions, the regional events will not include simultaneous translation services. Participants are encouraged to ask their questions in the language of their choice as a moderator will help with translation.

Career Conversations

Recruiting staff as well as building your own career at the same time is an important facet of being in the public service.  We know there are tools and programs out there, but we don’t always know how to tap into them. In this session, a VP of the Public Service Commission will share useful and pertinent options from the PSC that support managers to do recruiting in new ways and that allows us to move diversity and inclusion forward. Additionally, our presenter will share a little bit about her own career in the public service, from her early career just starting out, to her current role at the Vice President.  There will be time for Questions and Answers.

Carla Rieger

For over 23 years, Carla Rieger has been speaking on how to help leaders be more effective in the age of technology, so they can keep the human element supported, productive and innovative.

Her uplifting, fun and interactive presentations to over 1500 groups, have captured hearts and minds around the world.

Help your attendees be more effective change agents through how they manage their own state of mind. She is the CEO of The Artistry of Change Training and Coaching, Inc, a training and coaching firm.

Her academic background includes organizational psychology, sales performance training, conflict resolution, adult education, creative process, change leadership and educational kinesiology.

She has written 6 books including “MindStory Inner Coach”, “Storytelling in Business”, “The Heart of Presenting”, “Presentations for Prosperity” plus hundreds of articles and 12 online learning programs.

In addition, she has 10 years experience in the performing arts, specifically comedy. As a frequent speaker, trainer, facilitator, coach, performer and consultant, Carla helps people communicate with power, purpose and passion.

Carole Eros, Mental Health & Wellness, British Columbia Federal Council

Carole Eros is the Mental Health and Wellness Coordinator for the British Columbia Federal Council. Carole has worked for Fisheries and Oceans Canada in Pacific Region for 22 years in various resource management and marine planning roles. In September 2019 she made a career shift to workplace wellness. Carole has personal experience in, and knowledge of, mental health. She is passionate about fostering mental health and wellness in the workplace and taking as many steps as possible to eliminate stigmas. Personally Carole loves (and needs) to move and can’t get enough of yoga, exercise, music, animals, nature and first and foremost, hugs from her teenage son.
