Director General, Data, Analytics and Information Management, Department of National Defence
Jennifer was previously the Executive Director of Privacy and Responsible Data at the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, where she led government-wide policy work related to the protection and use of personal information, as well as the ethical implementation and use of data and artificial intelligence.
Jennifer began her career in government in 1999 in the field of disability pensions, but quickly realized her passion for privacy, data protection and transparency as fundamental pillars of government, and has been working in these areas since 2001 in a number of security-based institutions such as the Department of National Defence, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Global Affairs Canada and Public Safety Canada. Jennifer has also worked in the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as a Senior Privacy Investigator and with the Office of the Information Commissioner as a Director of Investigations.
Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a Minor in Law from Carleton University, and has completed a Masters Certificate in Leadership from the Schulich School of Business. Jennifer also holds her certification as a Canadian Information and Privacy Professional (CIPP/C).
Jennifer has two children, and enjoys spending every moment possible outdoors camping, hiking, paddling, and cross-country skiing.
