We will receive the speaker and author Kim Thùy on the theme “The success of my failures”. She will share, with her overflowing enthusiasm and unbridled humor, slices of her life and her tricks to see her failures differently and to bounce back from them.
Like all NMC events, there is no cost to participate except for your travel expenses, if applicable.

Speakers Bios
Kim Thúy, Author and Speaker
Kim Thuy was born in Vietnam in 1968. At the age of 10 she left Vietnam along with a wave of refugees commonly referred to in the media as “the boat people” and settled with her family in Quebec, Canada. A graduate in translation and law, she has worked as a seamstress, interpreter, lawyer and chef-restaurant owner. She lives in Montreal and devotes her life to writing.
Kim Thúy author and speaker has received many awards, including the Governor General’s Literary Award in 2010, and was one of the top 4 finalists of the Alternative Nobel Prize in 2018. Her books have sold more than 850,000 copies around the world and have been translated into 29 languages and distributed across 40 countries and territories.
Camille Beausoleil, a/Executive Director, National Managers’ Community (NMC), Canada School of Public Service
In May 2023, Camille was appointed as Executive Director, National Managers Community (NMC), where she will work to promote the needs and interests of federal managers to public service decision-makers. Prior to this, Camille was Assistant Director, Learning and Product Development Team within the Respectful and Inclusive Workplaces Directorate at the Canada School of Public Service. She has been with the School since 2018, having worked in various positions both operational, in Curriculum Management as part of the Registrar’s Office, and more strategic, as Chief of Staff to the Vice-president of the Public Sector Operations and Inclusion Branch.
Camille joined the federal public service in 2008, having previously worked at the Department of Canadian Heritage and the National Capital Commission, in a number of management and project management roles. Camille holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, as well as professional certification in HR Management and lives in the National Capital Region.
Simon Fradette,_Director General – Regional Service Delivery, Shared Services Canada
Simon has joined Shared Services Canada in January 2020 as Director General – Regional Service Delivery, in Network & Security Services Branch.
From 2017 to 2020, he was the Director of the Eastern Quebec Tax Services Office at the Canada Revenue Agency. From 2013 to 2017, while living in Ottawa, he held various Senior Director and Director General positions at Public Services and Procurement Canada, leading Canada-wide programs such as GCDocs and Shared Travel Services.
Since the beginning of his federal public service career in the 1990s, Simon has worked in 11 departments and agencies all across Canada, and as an executive since 2007. He has extensive experience in operations, human resources and financial management, as well as in Information Technologies and transformational/change management.
Simon holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) and a Masters in Business Administration (Management) from Université Laval and lives in Quebec City.

Marie-Josée Rouleau, Regional Director, Integrated Business Management Services, Canadian Coast Guard (CCG), Central Region
Marie-Josée Rouleau joined the Canadian Coast Guard as Regional Director, Integrated Business Management Services (IBMS) in May 2023.
Marie-Josée began her career in the Federal Public Service in the Human Resources Branch of the Canadian Space Agency in 1993. She then joined DFO in January 2000 as Regional Manager, Compensation and Benefits . Over the years, she has held various positions of increasing responsibility in the field of Labour Relations as well as Regional Director of Human Resources. More recently, Marie-Josée led the national departmental staffing team as Director. She has also held various executive positions on an interim basis within our department such as Ombuds and Director of the Ombuds’ Office, Manager of Organizational Transformation for the National Center of Expertise for Real Property, Associate Regional Director General.
In addition to her regular duties, Marie-Josée is involved in the workplace as, among other things, a mentor, a facilitator for the Management Exploration Program, a facilitator for the Canada School of Public Service.
Marie-Josée holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Quebec.
Stéphane Lemieux, Assistant Director, Legislative Policy and Regulatory Affairs at the Eastern Quebec TSO
Stéphane Lemieux has held the position of Assistant Director, Legislative Policy and Regulatory Affairs at the Eastern Quebec TSO since April 2021.
Stéphane began his career in the Canadian Forces as an infantry officer in 1987. During his 23 years of uniformed service, he held various positions of increasing responsibility in Canada and abroad.
In 2010, he joined Veterans Affairs Canada as Manager, then Director for the Eastern Quebec and Quebec Region. In September 2019 he joins Service Canada in the role of Territory Director for Québec Chaudière-Appalaches. In May 2021, he is appointed to his current position. Stéphane holds a bachelor’s degree in military and strategic studies from the Royal Military College of Canada and a certificate in human resources management from UQAM. Stéphane is also the Official Languages Co-Champion for the Quebec Region and is a guest faculty member at the Canada School of Public Service.
