Trauma-Informed approach to mental health in the workplace

Recognizing and approaching mental health challenges in the workplace through a trauma-informed lens.

There is a cultural shift in today’s workplace that aims to embody inclusivity, connection and trust. As a manager, having a trauma-informed approach will contribute to an employee’s sense of confidence, achievement and purpose while fostering better workplace relationships. In this phase, we will focus on identifying trauma and mental health challenges, how to meet employees where they are, and practical tips for hard conversations around mental health. Not only is a safe and healthy work environment a fundamental right, but it minimizes conflict, increases performance and contributes to staff retention.

What actions can you take when responding to mental health challenges within your teams, and how can you maximize the resources available to you and your employees.

Take trauma-informed practice out of your toolbox and put it to practical use. This phase will allow participants to apply the skillsets discussed in Phase 1 through various scenarios and interactive options. We will also discuss as a group the importance of self-care,  how to tap into available resources and  creating a strong support network.

Facilitated by Rachel Richardson, Susette Clunis and Nicky Hadwell. Restorative Practitioners trained in Trauma Informed Practice.   CAF Restorative Team – DND
