NMC is looking for help in their communication team
The National Managers’ Community (NMC) is looking for a Communications Advisor for a one or two-year secondment at the IS-02 or IS-03 level or equivalent.
Under the supervision of the Senior Communications Advisor this person will support our team to develop and refresh various communication products, assist with national and regional NMC events, edit website content, coordinate NMC newsletters and create social media messages for various platforms.

Peer Coaching Circles
The Ontario NMC in partnership with Ontario Leadership Network of the Ontario Public Service, through generous support from the Ontario Federal Council, is providing Peer Coaching Circle Facilitator training to 40 Federal and Provincial Managers.
“Like to be part of something remarkable? Feeling isolated and want to connect with your peers? Want to develop your leadership skills? Leading a new project and feeling stuck? Need help exploring a career move? Trying to figure out how to have a challenging conversation? Join an NMC English Coaching Circle facilitated by Peer Leaders! Workshop : How to conduct an evaluation of biases and barriers of an assessment method?
The PSC’s Personnel Psychology Centre has designed a workshop on ’ How to conduct an evaluation of biases and barriers of an assessment method? ’ to support organizations preparing to implement changes related to the amendments to the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA). In order to extend the outreach to HR professionals and hiring managers within their organizations, in addition to the PowerPoint slides, PSC is sharing the Workshop Facilitator’s Guide (FG) if you wish to offer this workshop in your organization.
The FG is designed to promote discussion on best practices in assessment, and to stimulate participants’ sound judgment when using the PSC’s guide and tool to mitigate biases and barriers in assessment.
The Guide includes:
- An overview of the session objective, schedule and administration procedures
- Timing information for each topic
- Step-by-step instructions
- Notes on learning material, transitions scripts and activities
- Recommended readings.

How to improve workplace equity: Evidence-based actions for employers
This guide is part of a suite of new employment equity tools launched by the Government of Canada to support employers in addressing representation and pay gaps.

In January 2023, the Public Service Commission of Canada refreshed the Federal Student Work Experience Program’s (FSWEP) ongoing inventory. As such, only students who have confirmed their interest in student employment in the Federal Public Service will be referred to organisations.
When you, or your HR advisor, submit FSWEP requests for referrals, you will receive a list of student applications whose profile corresponds to the criteria in your request. You simply assess the candidates, with the support of your HR advisor, and then provide feedback for each referred student by selecting the appropriate status from the drop-down menu in the FSWEP system. Providing this crucial feedback will ensure the accuracy of students’ availabilities, as well as contribute to a more positive user experience for both managers and students, who are informed of the feedback provided. Infinity – The Network for Neurodivergent Public Servants
Infinity is a new interdepartmental professionals’ network founded by and for neurodivergent federal public servants, encompassing those with neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Tourette’s syndrome, dyslexia, and dysgraphia.
Focused on promoting respect for neurodiversity in the workplace, Infinity looks to connect empower, and drive personal and professional growth among current and aspiring neurodivergent public servants through:
- Virtual and in-person networking events
- Professional development activities
- Mentorship
- GCxchange and GCcollab groups
Through its name, Infinity embraces the limitless possibilities there are when we empower neurodivergent people to succeed in the workplace.

Future Leaders of Ontario (FLO) Mentorship Program
Are you interested in supporting the professional development of a GC public servant?
Future Leaders of Ontario is pleased to launch its mentorship program for 2023! The mentorship program pairs managers with a public servant from a different department or agency for information sharing, guidance, and support. Mentors will be required to attend an orientation session in June and hold a minimum of 3 mentorship sessions with their mentee.

The National Managers’ Community Quebec and Nunavut Region welcomes a new Regional Champion
We are pleased to introduce Mathieu Bergeron, Director, Planning, Partnerships and Operations Division, Laurentian Forestry Centre, Canadian Forest Service at Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) as new Regional Champion for Quebec and Nunavut Region.

Mathieu Bergeron
Mathieu Bergeron joined NRCan as Director of Planning, Partnerships & Operations in 2019. His responsibilities include strategic planning, new partnership development, and Science and Policy Integration.
Between 2016 and 2019, Mr. Bergeron held various management positions within DFO and the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG). Within the CCG, Mr. Bergeron was the Regional Director, Oceans Protection Plan and Superintendent of Marine Communications and Traffic Services. He led a recruitment strategy that is recognized as innovative, having filled 100% of the 60 vacant positions in Arctic, Ontario and Quebec. Mr. Bergeron also served as Acting Director of Communications for DFO and CCG.
Between 2004 and 2016, Mr. Bergeron worked with numerous stakeholders within Fisheries Management (DFO) in Sept-Îles on the North Shore (Resource Manager) and in the Quebec City regional office (Senior Advisor). In the course of his mandate, Mr. Bergeron has collaborated with Elders, Inuit fishers and hunters organizations, commercial fishers, Indigenous groups and NGOs.
Mr. Bergeron holds a Master’s degree in Social Sciences (Anthropology) from Laval University where he studied the management and development of the commercial fishery as a socio-economic development lever for First Nations.

The Joint Learning Program (JLP) is looking for managers interested in becoming facilitators
The JLP Regional Field Coordinators, Quebec Region, are seeking your cooperation in recruiting facilitators in order to meet the demand.
The Joint Learning Program needs facilitators to deliver Joint Learning Program (JLP) workshops and facilitate Discussion Series. The topics covered by these workshops directly address employer and union priorities, including mental health and workplace well-being, inclusion and diversity.

QFC Conferences: Motivation… is something to work on!
This activity is based on more than five decades of solid scientific research to help participants demystify, understand, and stimulate motivation at work according to the self-determination theory.
First, it discusses the different types of work motivation, the psychological needs that help stimulate the most adaptive forms of motivation, and some of the major intervention levers that can be used. Secondly, it discusses positive psychology and strength-based management. It will help to understand what strengths are and how to identify them.

The Institut d’administration publique du Québec (IAPQ) invites you to a networking event aimed at building bridges between the various public administrations in Quebec.
In the presence of the Director General of the Centre de services scolaires Marguerite-Bourgeoys, Mr. Dominic Bertrand, who will welcome us to his premises, the activity will be an opportunity to get to know the administrators of the IAPQ and to network with people who are committed to serving citizens and who work in various public administrations in the Greater Montreal area. The Director General of the City of Montreal and recipient of the Tribute Award in 2021, Mr. Serge Lamontagne, will also speak briefly at the event.
