Spotlight on Resources
Moving forward together post-strike
On the first week of May, a tentative agreement was reached between the Treasury Board and several groups with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC). The Canada Revenue Agency has also just reached a tentative agreement with the Union of Taxation Employees (UTE-PSAC).
As we move forward following the strike, it is important to reinforce how much openness and respect matter in our daily interactions. Steering away from judgment and adopting a curious approach, may help us see a situation from a different angle which may lead to meaningful conversations with a colleague or within our team.
To support managers in navigating these potentially difficult conversations, managers can reach out to their Human Resources Advisors, Ombuds or Informal Conflict Management teams, where in place. In addition, Health Canada provides a variety of Specialized Organizational Services (SOS) to managers and their teams, to strengthen employee wellness and organizational health, including: Stress & Anger Management; Team Building; and Conflict Resolution.
The Office of the Ombud at the Treasury Board Secretariat and the Informal Conflict Management Services (ICMS) has also developed the attached tools which may prove useful in your organizations through this transition period:
- Reflection Questions for Moving Forward Together; and
- Effective Strategies for Navigating Delicate Workplace Situations
Take care of yourself and each other, because we are stronger when we support each other.
